Get to know about the foundation

It is a non-Governmental and non-Profit making organization established in May 2015.

It was born out of the unquenchable passion of Evan. Samuel Vopnu to care for orphans and vulnerable children. It’s active 5 member board of trustees, dedicated staff and community volunteers have been on course to drive and promote the vision.

Capacity Building

For effective and efficient service delivery, our staffs are trained on:

  • Orphanage management

  • Better parenting curriculum

  • Household economics strengthening

  • The use of orphans and vulnerable children national tools

  • Psychosocial support for orphans and vulnerable children

Planning and Source of Income

At her last board meeting a 3 years strategic plan of Forty Seven Million Six Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (N47,640,000.00) only was approved.

The organization has received kind and financial support from churches, private sector, partners, friends and members of the public and personal income of the Executive Director.

Activities

Some things that have happened over time

Since its inception LEMU orphanage has enrolled and provided care and vulnerable children in various communities. Her rural community outreach has empowered over 85 widows and caregivers.

The service provided by the organization to orphans, vulnerable children and widows included: Education Health, Nutrition Protection, Household Economics Strengthening, Shelter and Psychosocial Support.

Legal Status

Lemu Orphanage is registered with:

  • Rivers State Government through ministry of social welfare and rehabilitation.

  • Cooperation affairs Commission (CAC)

  • Member: Association for orphans and vulnerable children NGO’s for Nigeria (AONN) Rives state.
